New At The Guild!

The Centennial Celebration Finale will be held Saturday, October 26 in Historic Downtown Vero Beach. Following the Centennial Parade that will pass along 14th Avenue and conclude about high noon, everyone is invited to make their way to the Heritage Center filled to the brim with booths displaying interesting information, historic displays, photography, videos and a singing troupe to thrill any age!

Audiences will be serenaded throughout the day by the Vero Beach Theatre Guild’s popular traveling performance group, Guild on the Go. “A Bench in the Sun” made its debut in 1999 at the Westport Playhouse starring comedic icon Tim Conway along with Paxton Whitehead and Betsy Palmer.   Clark’s script is full of clever one liners, musings about the seasons of life, tender moments- including a dance lesson, and reflections upon world changes that affect old folks. 

Clark began his career writing for TV during the '60s, including such shows as The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and The Danny Kaye Show. He wrote plays in the '70s with fellow writer Sam Bobrick. Their first play, “Norman, Is That You?,” premiered on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre on February 19, 1970. The two men went on to write several more plays together, including “No Hard Feelings” (1973), “Murder at the Howard Johnson's” (1979), and “Wally's Café” (1981). On Saturday, October 26, just in time for Halloween, CATS makeup designer, Rob Volsky, is offering a four-hour intensive workshop from 10 AM to 2 PM in Fantasy Character Makeup at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild!

All the stops will be pulled out for this workshop. We will demonstrate the use of common and specialty materials used in the cosmetic arts.  This is a hands-on workshop so bring your ideas, designs, costumes and accessories (all optional) and a willingness to have fun!  Take before and after shots of your imaginative creations.

The Vero Beach Theatre Guild had a remarkable season this past year. As the current leadership and army of volunteers continue to raise the bar on everything from performance quality to set design and technical direction, more and more residents and visitors are flocking to the area's beloved community theatre. The lineup for the new season has been announced and promises another great year of theatrical entertainment as the Vero Beach Theatre Guild prepare's to kick off its 62nd season in July.  Newcomers will discover top-notch performances at reasonable prices and regulars will find lots of reasons to "fall in love with the Guild all over again!"

On Sunday, May 26 the Vero Beach Theatre Guild held its 61st Annual Genie Awards Gala.  The Guild celebrated a night to remember at the Elks Lodge as it honored its stars for the 2018-2019 season. 

The Genie Awards, which are held at the close of each season, were named in honor of Eugene Davis, one of the guild’s first resident directors, and honor excellence in theater by recognizing the contributions of the cast, crew and volunteers.

The 2018-2019  Outstanding Production Award was presented to “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” directed by Beth Shestak. "Forum" was in fact a big winner for the evening with awards going to Greg Harris as both Leading Actor and Leading Male Vocalist in the challenging role of Pseudolus.  Libbie Baylinson, Isabel Garrett, Nikki Przedwiecki, Caroline Remillard and Debbie Brandauer also took Best Group Performance as the Courtesans....

The Vero Beach Theatre Guild is excited to announce 2 Master Classes in Acting taught by Michael Naffziger. Each workshop is designed for either the beginner, intermediate or experienced actor who wishes to learn more about his or her craft.

Tuition for each class is $25 per student or $40 if enrolling in both classes at the time of registering. When enrolling online, the discount will automatically apply itself when you register for both classes at the same time. Registration can be done in person or by phoning the box office Mondays through Fridays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the box office will accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover card, cash or check. Registration is available online. A $2 service fee applies to on line registrations.

Get ready to have a ball at the 61st Annual Genie Awards Gala!  On Sunday, May 26th we'll celebrate this seasons Super Stars in style.  Our evening begins with a cocktail hour at 5:00 p.m. followed by a grand buffet and awards ceremony. Join us for A NIGHT TO REMEMBER!
