On Saturday, October 26, just in time for Halloween, CATS makeup designer, Rob Volsky, is offering a four-hour intensive workshop from 10 AM to 2 PM in Fantasy Character Makeup at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild!
All the stops will be pulled out for this workshop. We will demonstrate the use of common and specialty materials used in the cosmetic arts. This is a hands-on workshop so bring your ideas, designs, costumes and accessories (all optional) and a willingness to have fun! Take before and after shots of your imaginative creations.

As the current leadership and army of volunteers continue to raise the bar on everything from performance quality to set design and technical direction, more and more residents and visitors are flocking to the area's beloved community theatre. On Sunday, May 26 the Vero Beach Theatre Guild held its 61st Annual Genie Awards Gala. The Guild celebrated a night to remember at the Elks Lodge as it honored its stars for the 2018-2019 season.
The Genie Awards, which are held at the close of each season, were named in honor of Eugene Davis, one of the guild’s first resident directors, and honor excellence in theater by recognizing the contributions of the cast, crew and volunteers.
The 2018-2019 Outstanding Production Award was presented to “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” directed by Beth Shestak. "Forum" was in fact a big winner for the evening with awards going to Greg Harris as both Leading Actor and Leading Male Vocalist in the challenging role of Pseudolus. Libbie Baylinson, Isabel Garrett, Nikki Przedwiecki, Caroline Remillard and Debbie Brandauer also took Best Group Performance as the Courtesans....
The Vero Beach Theatre Guild is excited to announce 2 Master Classes in Acting taught by Michael Naffziger. Each workshop is designed for either the beginner, intermediate or experienced actor who wishes to learn more about his or her craft.
Tuition for each class is $25 per student or $40 if enrolling in both classes at the time of registering. When enrolling online, the discount will automatically apply itself when you register for both classes at the same time. Registration can be done in person or by phoning the box office Mondays through Fridays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the box office will accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover card, cash or check. The Tony Award musical first performed in Broadway in 1981 is a sung-through musical based on T. S. Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.” The story involves a tribe of cats called the Jellicles who compete with music and dance to ascend to the Heaviside Layer to come back to a new life.
Casting needs include 20 Guest Spot/Lead roles and 6-8 person ensemble. Ages are between 16 and 80. Bring a resume and/or headshot. Prepare a 1-2 minute portion of a song of your choice. Also bring a device with an AUX port, or your own sheet music. Dress comfortably for basic choreography.

Then add on the years of experience of the cast and crew of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Vero Beach Theatre Guild and you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a rollicking good time between the March 12 opening night and the closing curtain March 31.
One of the things the Guild does so well is a well-written farce and farces don’t get much better than Forum. Greg Harris plays the role of the slave Pseudolus, played originally by Zero Mostel on stage and in the 1966 film. Harris said he loved watching Zero Mostel and Nathan Lane bring the character of Pseudolus to life, “and now it’s my turn … It’s fun and daunting all in one … an actor’s dream! What other show do you get to go in and just play and make people laugh?”
