New At The Guild!

The Centennial Celebration Finale will be held Saturday, October 26 in Historic Downtown Vero Beach. Following the Centennial Parade that will pass along 14th Avenue and conclude about high noon, everyone is invited to make their way to the Heritage Center filled to the brim with booths displaying interesting information, historic displays, photography, videos and a singing troupe to thrill any age!

Audiences will be serenaded throughout the day by the Vero Beach Theatre Guild’s popular traveling performance group, Guild on the Go. “A Bench in the Sun” made its debut in 1999 at the Westport Playhouse starring comedic icon Tim Conway along with Paxton Whitehead and Betsy Palmer.   Clark’s script is full of clever one liners, musings about the seasons of life, tender moments- including a dance lesson, and reflections upon world changes that affect old folks. 

Clark began his career writing for TV during the '60s, including such shows as The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and The Danny Kaye Show. He wrote plays in the '70s with fellow writer Sam Bobrick. Their first play, “Norman, Is That You?,” premiered on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre on February 19, 1970. The two men went on to write several more plays together, including “No Hard Feelings” (1973), “Murder at the Howard Johnson's” (1979), and “Wally's Café” (1981). On Saturday, October 26, just in time for Halloween, CATS makeup designer, Rob Volsky, is offering a four-hour intensive workshop from 10 AM to 2 PM in Fantasy Character Makeup at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild!

All the stops will be pulled out for this workshop. We will demonstrate the use of common and specialty materials used in the cosmetic arts.  This is a hands-on workshop so bring your ideas, designs, costumes and accessories (all optional) and a willingness to have fun!  Take before and after shots of your imaginative creations.
