Across a Barrier of Fear: The Life of Eleanor Roosevelt

October 30, 2019

“Everything I ever did, I did across a barrier of fear.”  --Eleanor Roosevelt

Across a Barrier of Fear: The Life of Eleanor Roosevelt is a one-woman performance written by Sharon Whitney and starring Jane VanBoskirk. The play’s title is born of a quote by the former First Lady who comes alive in Whitney’s script.  The play traces her life from her childhood as an orphan and her schooling in London, to her marriage to Franklin Delano Roosevelt and beyond.  It takes the audience through political campaigns, four terms as First Lady and, finally, to Eleanor’s place on the world stage after her husband’s death.

Refreshments will be served in the courtyard before the performance.  This event is sponsored by the Vero Beach American Association of University Women, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  All proceeds support scholarships, grants and programs for women and girls in Indian River County.
