Dear Guild Family,
I once read that to change the shape of an ice cube, you have to let it thaw first! Once it has been reduced to a warm puddle, you can reshape it and create a whole new shape, a whole new dimension. And there’s that word again, “change.” If there’s just one word that has echoed through halls of our campus during the past 18 months, it’s CHANGE.
As I enter into my second season on the Guild Board of Directors and as a second year President, I hope that you are enjoying the many changes that were planted by the Board last year and are now coming to fruition this season. The Guild is now operating as a year round theatre when we opened our first show DIXIE SWIM CLUB in July. And what a show that was! Director Art Pingree had a marvelous cast! Change brought about the talented Tony nominated Michael Naffziger as our staff Set Designer for 2018 -2019 season. In addition, we have added the very talented free-lance artist Jeff Hall as our Set Coordinator overseeing our volunteer crew creating, building and painting those outstanding sets you’re getting to see this year. A talented trio Michael, Jeff and long standing Technical Director Shawn Webber have truly created some memorable changes around our theatre so far.
Another huge change is the Guild’s ambitious 10 show season, creating a real buzz around our campus and everyone has been kept extremely busy.
Other very notable changes include the fact that we finally were able to vacate off campus storage rentals and now maintain our collection of props and costumes on the third floor of our building expansion. The second floor has been organized to accommodate rehearsals and Shawn and his volunteers have removed a dividing wall in our Green Room, doubling the size. It now has a new paint job, new trim, new flooring and beautiful French doors overlooking our courtyard. So now we can have a show running on the stage, the next main stage show rehearsing in the Green Room and the Apron Series shows rehearsing on the second floor! Talk about changes!
Stick around! There are a lot more “changes” in store for you, our audiences, volunteers and friends of the Guild. After all, we’re making all these changes and great theatre just for you!
